Ever wondered what it’s like to combine the earthy magic of mushrooms with the rich, indulgent delight of chocolate? Well, wonder no more! Making homemade mushroom chocolates is easier than you might think—and a lot more fun. Whether you’re a seasoned psychonaut or just a curious newbie, follow this simple guide to create your own magical plant-based treats.
How to Make Mushroom Chocolates
What you’ll need:
- 10 grams of completely dried magic mushrooms
- 200 grams of chocolate melts (opt for at least 70% cocoa)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother texture)
- Double boiler or microwave-safe bowl
- Mixing bowl
- Spoon or spatula
- Silicone chocolate molds
Step 1: Prepare the Mushrooms.
Grind your dried psilocybin mushrooms into a fine powder using a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle.
Step 2: Melt the Chocolate.
Using a double boiler, melt the dark chocolate slowly over low heat, stirring frequently. If you don’t have a double boiler, use a microwave-safe bowl and microwave the chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until fully melted. Optional: If you want a smoother texture, add coconut oil to the melted chocolate.
Step 3: Combine the Ingredients.
Once the chocolate is melted, remove it from the heat. Let it cool slightly, and then stir in the powdered mushrooms, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the chocolate.
Step 4: Pour Chocolate Into the Molds.
Spoon the chocolate mixture into your silicone molds. Fill each mold evenly to ensure consistent dosing. Tap the molds gently on the counter to remove any air bubbles and level the chocolate.
Step 5. Set the Chocolates.
Place the filled molds in the refrigerator and let them set for at least 1-2 hours, or until the chocolates are completely hardened.
Step 6: Remove and Store.
Once the chocolates are set, carefully pop them out of the molds.
How to Store Your Homemade Mushroom Chocolates
Store your chocolates in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Refrigeration is recommended to keep them fresh. They’ll last about 6 months in the fridge. Any longer than that, you risk reducing the potency.
A Note on Dosing Mushroom Chocolates
The amount of mushrooms you use will determine the potency of each chocolate piece. Adjust the mushroom quantity based on how strong you want each chocolate to be.
For example, if you want each chocolate to contain 1 gram of mushrooms and you have 15 molds, use 15 grams of powdered mushrooms for the entire batch. Note: If you’re new to mushrooms, we recommend starting with no more than .25g per piece. See our Dosing Guide for more information.
Making mushroom chocolates is a fun and tasty way to enjoy psilocybin mushrooms, but always consume responsibly. Start with a small dose, especially if you’re new to psychedelics, and give yourself at least 30 – 60 minutes to feel the effects before consuming more. Always enjoy your homemade mushroom chocolates in a safe and comfortable environment.
